Healthy living can be easily added to your daily routine to see a boost in your overall health and wellness. It just takes a little discipline to start making your way towards a healthy living. With a hectic life, it is increasingly difficult to stay fit and healthy. There are plenty of tips to live a healthy life, here are six tips that will help you maintain a healthy lifestyle!

  • Exercise and Lose Weight: This is an obvious one. Not getting enough exercise is a major risk factor for heart disease, stroke, cancers, diabetes, high blood pressure, and cholesterol. Incorporate some exercise every day, and you will be healthy. Start with 5-10 minutes in the morning or make it a daily challenge to start your day. Work your way up to 30 mins for a more effective workout.
  • Drink in Moderation: Drinking excessively can help lead to many diseases. A glass of red wine is good, but drink it too much and you increase your risk of illness. It is alright to enjoy happy hour, but don’t get too “happy” with the drinks.
  • Eliminate Red Processed Meats: Eating red meat and processed meat such as sausage and bacon can contribute to heart disease and stroke. It may be tasty, but is it worth the health risk?

  • Eat Fruits and Vegetables: It is amazing how many people eat very few fruits and vegetables. Eating fruits and vegetables reduces the risk of several major diseases, and this is one of the easiest habits to take. Eat a salad (without heavy seasoning), add vegetables to soups or vegetable chili. Cook the vegetables to compliment dinner or lunch. Eat fruit for breakfast and snacks. Fruits are also great for replacing processed sweets. Instead of eating ice cream, try frozen grapes. No, it isn’t the same, but healthier.
  • Reduce Salt and Saturated/Trans Fat: Salt and trans or saturated fats are present in a lot of processed or prepared foods, and they increase the risk of hypertension and stroke. Saturated fats are not healthy. Cook your healthy meals instead of eating processed foods. Processed foods are quicker, but try to meal prep if you don’t have a lot of time to cook full meals.
  • Reduce Stress: Stress is a risk factor for heart disease and high blood pressure. Simplify your workday so that you do not get too stressed out. Try to take some “me” time once in a while. This can help clear your mind and remove yourself from stressors.
